Wellcome Trust Funding to Support Open Access

The University has received a grant to assist Wellcome funded researchers meet their grant conditions and pay open access publishing fees.

Wellcome Trust funded researchers who want to access this funding, should first ensure that the journal they are planning to publish in meets the Wellcome Trust's definition of an open access publication. In return for a fee, a journal publisher is required to deposit a copy of the final peer-reviewed manuscript on PubMed Central/UKPubmed Central with immediate free access. The journal publisher should also make the article freely available on their web site immediately on publication.

On having their article accepted for publication, researchers should complete the form below and forward or fax it to dclay@liv.ac.uk along with the supporting documentation requested.

Please note:

1. The funding is to support Wellcome Trust grantees only
2. The Wellcome Trust Author Guide and FAQs
3. The information provided is required to support the reporting procedures of the Wellcome Trust and the University of Liverpool
4. The grant listed must have supported the work published.
5. Researchers should not pay for articles to be published without first checking that the costs of page processing charges can be refunded from the grant.
6. The funding is who wish to publish their research output in an open access journal or a journal that offers authors an open access choice for the payment of a fee. It does not cover the normal publication charges of journals that allow a copy of the author's manuscript to be self-archived following publication as self-archiving itself does not incur a fee.
